Have you been thinking of up cycling a piece of furniture so it matches your decor? This is a great way of adding something unique to your home and you get to choose the colour rather than just choosing what's available at the furniture store.
Once you have your piece, it's essential to clean it before doing anything else. You may have to sand it, depending on the condition of the piece and if you sand it while it's dirty, you risk sanding the dirt further into the grain of the wood. So wash it down with a degreaser and vacuum the inside.
Sometimes it's preferable not to sand it. If the condition is good, it has no chips or marks and all you want to do is change the colour, it might be best to prime it with an adhesion primer.
I have a free pdf that explains primers and their uses. Why not download it and save it for when you're ready to tackle a piece of furniture?
Let me know if you have any questions. I'm happy to help.
